Pretti is a two-year old Jack Russell/Cairn Terrier mix who has lived her entire life in a dog pen with her sisters (Abigail and Happi, also shown on our site). And although this was better than death at the shelter were they were dumped at the age of 6 weeks, this was not the life her famiy wanted her to have, so she has been released to rescue and she is already enjoying her freedom immensely! She LOVES having a big yard to run in and play. She has settled in nicely with all her foster brothers and sisters. She is the most timid of the three siblings and a bit growly at other dogs until she is sure they are friendly. All was fine after 24 hours and everyone is playing together with no issues (there are 9 other dogs here, so it's a bit intimidating for any new arrival!) Pretti is definitely pretty, but besides that, she is a very smart girl and the calmest of the three girls (although none are what I would consider calm ... after all, they are terriers!) She weighs in at 21 pounds and is a beautiful tan color. She is up to date on her shots and just got her 6 month heartworm preventative shot. Pretti is also spayed, so she is ready to go and get started in a home that will let her be part of the family, not stuck in a dog pen! ;) We know Pretti's mother was a purebred Jack Russell Terrier, but we have no clue who daddy was and we are guessing he may have been a cairn terrier, simply because of her looks, color and build. But whatever the mix, it works for this bright-eyed girl! She loves everyone and wants your undivided attention the minute you walk in the door. These girls seem to have been starved for affection. But they have not been mistreated in any way and have outgoing personalities. When working with her one on one, she calms down quickly and aims to please. She knows how to sit for her dinner and treats. She sleeps in a crate at night and does beautifully! Pretti is up to date on her shots and has just had her Pro-Heart shot for heartworm prevention. She has been to the groomer every couple of months since birth and enjoys going, but she doesn't have to be groomed ... her hair grows to the length it is now and that's it. She rides great in the car and enjoys riding. She can use some work on a leash, because being a terrier, she wants to go, go, go and snoot, snoot, snoot! She is a smart girl and when I tell her it's crate time, in she goes. Pretti will be require a home with a securely fenced yard so she can get out and play and exercise safely. We also will require a non-smoking home for these dogs due to breed. Pretti has been in a home with children and is very good with kiddos, but because she is an active terrier, CHILDREN OVER THE AGE OF 6 WOULD BEST SUIT THIS DOG. Although we have had no accidents in the house, we are not promising Pretti is 100% housetrained, because she has never lived in a house.
