A long and lanky labby, our girl Friday is a happy, playful pup. It?s hard to believe that, on Columbus Day, she was found curled up between a discarded tire and a deflated basketball at the edge of a neighborhood street insecting a major thoroughfare. At approximately 12 weeks old, she was skinny, abandoned, and injured. People in yards and driveways nearby saw and ignored her. Upon being offered food, she struggled up to reveal that her leg was broken at the hip. Thanks to Out of the Woods, surgery was performed poste haste, and Friday is recovering nicely. She is up to date on shots, wormed, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. Now, at about 4.5 mos old, Friday weighs 23 lbs (11/9/12). We think that she will grow into a tallish, medium-weight dog (vet thinks about 50-55 lbs). Primarily lab, her long ears and nose lead us to believe that she has some hound in her heritage. Friday is a natural runner, romper, and wrestler. She gets along well with other dogs, crates politely as long as she is in a room with other dogs or people (when isolated, she tends to bark in distress?we?re working on it), and is getting close on the house training. We think that this beauty will thrive with kindred spirits?people who are inquisitive, who love to run, play, explore, eat, and collapse in bed for a solid night?s sleep. She will do best in a home with a fenced yard and access to other doggy playmates and a sleeping buddy.
